Hops: Nectaron, Nectar Cryo, Krush Cryo, Krush Hyperboost & Krush Abstraxx
Silky smooth, full of flavour and punchy aromas of citrus, tropical and stone fruit, berries and a woody undertone.
JP: I feel like I’ve always been aware of DEYA. I’ve always loved their branding and the fact they do such good modern, hoppy pale ales.
MJ: I think I first became aware of DEYA around 2016 - 2017. I tried their beer around that time at Mash, when we were just starting out at DK, contract brewing, and at that time it was a dream to be able to brew beers like DEYA.
JP: We had all met previously at other events. I think it’s nice to first meet and create a collab based on that personal relationship rather than go “this will be good for our sales”. We put the relationship first.
JP: For this particular collab, we knew we wanted to do something juicy. Owen, our head brewer, suggested we try some Abstrax terpenes to see what interesting expressions we could get out of the hops; and we kind of did a mashup of some of our recipes and theirs, using two hops both breweries love: Nectaron and Krush.
We decided to use these hops in different forms: T90 pellets, Cryo pellets, Hyperboost and Abstrax. The result is pretty spectacular.
MJ: For me, I just wanted it to be hop forward juicy good time, which I think is what DEYA is known for.
JP: When we met Katie, she noticed Michael was wearing a Chastity Belt shirt, a band we love and that has been playing at DosKiwis since day 1. We decided to name the beer Chazzy as a reference to the band (they are @chazzybelt on instagram).
For the label, everyone knows DEYA’s crocs, so we wanted to use a Birds Eye view of a bird flying over a swamp full of crocs!
MJ: I love Chastity Belt and often wear their merch, no one had ever noticed or at least not commented on it till Katie Brown came along. We really love Katie and Nils and it was a huge pleasure to host and hang out with them at the brewery.
